Who Decided

Who decided where we get our happiness? Whose executive decision dictates parameters for success?

Since when is being single the equivalent of loneliness?

Forgive me if I decline to acquiesce

with society’s guidelines, norms, and craziness.

I refuse to let it drive me to distress.

Who decided where we get our happiness?

Popular belief dictates it’s in materialistic things we posses

And that without these we are only filled with emptiness

Some say it’s in your status,

Happy is the baller, the rapper, model and actress

Who decided where we get our happiness?

I say the moments where I’ve been my happiest

Are the moments when I’ve been free to express

My beliefs and my love for God profess

Moments that make memories, moments that are priceless

Because it’s the little things and it’s within my own self that I find my happiness

Hope For You

Hope For YouIn The Hunger Games, President Snow said “Hope. It is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective.” This quote reminds me to never lose that which gets me through rainy days and dark nights…HOPE. From a very young age I was taught that my source of hope is God, and when I feel down, powerless, and helpless I try to hold on to HIM, believing that in the end God IS IN CONTROL.  Perhaps you may be having a bad day, week, or month, but never lose hope. It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and like President Snow said “A little hope is effective.”

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Romans 15:13a (NLT)
