Who Decided

Who decided where we get our happiness? Whose executive decision dictates parameters for success?

Since when is being single the equivalent of loneliness?

Forgive me if I decline to acquiesce

with society’s guidelines, norms, and craziness.

I refuse to let it drive me to distress.

Who decided where we get our happiness?

Popular belief dictates it’s in materialistic things we posses

And that without these we are only filled with emptiness

Some say it’s in your status,

Happy is the baller, the rapper, model and actress

Who decided where we get our happiness?

I say the moments where I’ve been my happiest

Are the moments when I’ve been free to express

My beliefs and my love for God profess

Moments that make memories, moments that are priceless

Because it’s the little things and it’s within my own self that I find my happiness
