1 Writers Heart

To My Knight

Take my heart out of this night

Be the knight to end this fight

Give me strength to make things right

Write a future bright as light

The author ran out of ink in his pen

No who, what, why, how or when

Because some stories just end

Before they even begin

All done
Hair and makeup undone
But I’m done
Nope, this isn’t a dry run
Believe it or not, I’m all done
Washing machine after the clothes has spun
I’m done
Shooting out lines like a water gun
Ladies and gents I’m done
Perfectly imperfect little someone
I’m done
Carefully knitted together by The One
Who’s only just begun
Yet simultaneously all done
I’m not taking suggestions from anyone
And this is no competition
Made by God, loved by The Son
Don’t try to change me, I’m all done

Picture Perfect

It happened in a flash

With minimal exposure

We immediately clicked

I usually close up like shutters

But you snapped me out of it

We were us, no need for filters

Your smile dialed up the brightness to any day

You were my equal and simultaneously my contrast

A perfect balance to my many hues

I pictured you differently

But your depth had quite an effect

And you captured my heart

To think, it all happened in a flash.

Rise and Shine!

The sun shines upon us once more

Each ray bringing the warmth of hope anew

The Son shines upon us once more

Each day bringing the joy of salvation for sinners alike, for me and you

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

(Isaiah 60:1 ESV)

Insiste. Persiste. Resiste.

International Day of the Girl was initially declared by the United Nations in 2011 to celebrate and empower young girls to rise up and fight for equality, safety, and their rights. There is a quote I once shared from a Mathew Henry Commentary that has stuck with me throughout the years. It goes:

She was “not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled on by him, but out of his side to be equal to him, under his arm to be protected and near his heart to be beloved.”

Today, show your love to a sister, friend, neighbor, niece, or any other girl and let her know she’s valuable. Below is a copy of my book, She Was A Girl First, feel free to download and share.
