Pretend Not To

A Cub’s Courage

A Cub's Courage As a child, I recall watching a cartoon in which a bear cub stands up to a hunter in an effort to defend himself. When he roars, rather than the usual baby roar, a terrifying sound scares away the hunter. When the camera zooms out, we see his mother behind him. Life is like this for those of us who trust in the Lord, we are never alone. Be encouraged and face the world head on….you are NOT alone.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. (John‬ ‭16:33‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Seeing Ghosts

Seeing GhostsThere are moments in our lives where the storm is so heavy, the path ahead is unclear and unknown thus clouding our judgment. As a result, we see “ghosts”; something that is not really there. These ghosts can manifest themselves as our fears; fear of failing, fear of being alone, fear of not being good enough, fear of being unloved…etc. When the disciples were in the midst of a storm, they thought to have seen a ghost and feared, but what a great feeling it must have been to hear the voice of Jesus comforting and reassuring them in the midst of the storm.

But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!  ‭‭(Matthew‬ ‭14:27‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Too Deep To Walk

Too Deep To WalkMerriam-Webster defines faith as “a strong belief or trust”. Often times in life, our faith in God is tested and it is those moments that make or break us. Peter’s faith was tested, (Mathew 14) but he was more focused on the surrounding circumstances than on Jesus who, by the way, was literally in front of him. It’s easy to have faith when our situations are but a mere puddle, or up to our waist, but what about when they are drowning us? When it is too deep to walk, will our faith be strong enough to keep us afloat?

Then he measured another 1,750 feet, and the river was too deep to walk across. It was deep enough to swim in, but too deep to walk through. (Ezekiel 47:3-5 NLT)

Closet Christian

Closet ChristianWe live in a time where everyone is fighting for their rights, where people freely speak their minds, and uncensored boldness is the new norm. This should be the best time to be a believer and to boldly share the gospel, yet many of us do the opposite out of fear. The Bible is clear, we can’t be “closet Christians”. Believing is a good start, but it should be followed by living the word and sharing it with others.

For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
(‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬)
