Faux Real Love

Everybody wanna flaunt their versions of love
But when your Ace turns to an ex, a why or a “what was I thinking of?”
You begin to wonder if real love was ever the plan?
Looks like it failed the true or false exam
Illusions of being better make you bitter
Because you tried to paint silver linings with cheap glitter
Being with someone part time because it’s better than being alone
Those cheap stunts got you dethroned
Rather than royalty people make you their jester
For entertainment only, then they’re out before you confuse ‘em with an investor
Commitment is like a bucket hat, they’re both out of style
Love is whatever you can give or get here and now
Everybody wanna flaunt their love but is it real or a real good fake?
Counterfeit, cuz the real deal is too much too fast so they pull hard on the e-brake
People’s versions of love today is looking like a knockoff
Knock it off. So what if y’all hooked up. Mazel tov?
More like Molotov cocktail, short fuse, short-lived
That type of “love” is corrosive
What’s wrong with a little old school?
What’s wrong with waiting and a little woo?
What’s wrong with getting to know you?
With time and words, not a peek or a preview.
Everybody wanna show off their boo or their bae
When what they’re really showing is the flavor of the day
Love is a fruit, it should fill, not leave a void
Love is a voluntary action, you shouldn’t feel like you’re employed
Love goes beyond financial status or the things money can buy
It’s not just a rich girl or guy by your side parading you like a trophy wife because if that’s the plan then boy bye!
It’s a value so significant, real love makes you priceless
Far more than a dime or just being fine, real love recognizes you’re royalty…your highness
But everybody wanna put their love on display
Most of these, like your stories, vanish by the end of the day
Let’s call it Casper because when the tough gets going the love goes ghost
On the other hand, some just try too hard, you’re doing the most
True love takes time and lasts through good and bad times
It’s an uphill challenge but once you get a glimpse, you’ll know it was worth the climb
So go ahead and flaunt your passion and your sex appeal
Just make sure that the love you love isn’t faux real.

BEAUTIFUL THAT WAY!

Happy Mother’s Day ladies!

They say Rome wasn’t built in a day,
So remember this when clouds turn to gray,
and when the house is messy from the kids’ bustle and play.
“Good things take time”, that’s what people say,
And though today’s teachings will be tomorrow’s yesterday,
It will be those things that show your kids the right way.
So be the rock that lays the foundation today.
You’re a mom and you’re beautiful that way!

To My Child

Dear child, why are you so sad?
What has your spirit so low?
Why do you roam about like a hopeless nomad?
Like there’s nowhere you’re welcomed, nowhere to go?

Why are your eyes pools for bitter tears?
To what or to whom have you lost your joy?
Have you finally made reality of your fears?
Is that quarter smile your best attempt at a decoy?

Lift your head, dear child
Don’t let another’s dark cloud dampen your bright future
Let your heart’s broken vase be beguiled
Heal your tired soul with hope, let that be your heart’s suture

Take the stones they threw at you to build bridges
Take their challenges as steps to climb higher
Fill your head with knowledge and culture, let those be your riches
Release your imagination and creativity like a spark that turns into a wildfire

If your head is down, let it be to admire the heights you’ve reached but not to self-glorify
If you’re on the ground, let it be because you’re catapulting others, but please don’t stay
If your smile is broken, let it be as a result of a laugh and not because of a cry
If you’re humbled, let it be your own act of humility, don’t let pride lead you astray

Oh, my dear if only you knew your worth
Capable of much ingenious that which your mind could birth
More precious than any stone man could unearth

Oh, if you understood how valuable you are
People try to stop you because they fear you’ll go far
Make distance from them like a spacebar
Live a full life made for a best-selling memoir

Raise your glass to your troubles, cheers for what’s to come
Plant hope in the lives of others like you have a green thumb
Always be a dreamer, don’t you dare let your ideas go numb
Fall down, get up, work hard, look up, should constantly be rule of thumb

Dear child, light up your face and be glad
Let your spirit shine aglow
Get ready to soar, today is your launch pad
Be great and spread greatness wherever you go.

Apology Letter

I’m sorry

I gave you up so easily

Should’ve held on tighter and longer

I did this so frequently

Should’ve controlled your flames like a firefighter

Should’ve taught you to be stronger

I’m sorry

I let you crumble

Should’ve guarded you and kept you safe

Instead, I kept tripping’ kept a steady stumble

Should’ve not let you get wrapped up like a mummy

Should’ve left you free and unswathed.

I’m sorry

I let you hurt

Should’ve known better

Maybe if I wasn’t such an introvert

Could’ve not become attached and avoided bitter tears

Could’ve prevented having to write this apology letter

Dear heart,

I’m sorry.

Ruined

I’ve ruined you

We were limitless, biting off more than we could chew.

I’ve ruined you

We got caught up in our dream life, enjoying the view.

I’ve ruined you

But it was never my intention if you only knew.

I realize I’ve ruined you

When I see how you’re living and what you are going through.

I’ve ruined you

We thought it was love, but we didn’t have a clue.

I’ve ruined you

As time passed we separated and apart we grew.

I’ve ruined you

And even though we don’t talk, you know it’s true.

I’ve ruined you

But you’ve ruined me too.
