Love Runaway

Sometimes you just have to fly.

Grateful Challenge

Grateful Challenge

This Christmas

Christmas is not about the gifts others give us, but about the gift God gave us through His son Jesus Christ, hence CHRISTmas!

I wish you much joy, peace, love, and many blessings this holiday season. May His light shine through us today and for years to come. Merry CHRISTmas!!!!

AdoptedWhen one adopts a child, they take them, raise them and love them as their own. For many, adoption is not about birth, but about love. God doesn’t care where we come from but rather where we are headed. He doesn’t care about our flaws, but rather how He can be strong in our weakness. As a result, He has adopted us as His own because He loves us. What a nice feeling to be wanted…to be loved.

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. (Ephesians‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Unspoken Conversation

You should’ve told me

Why didn’t you come to me

Did you think I’d disagree?

Wouldn’t let you be?

Be disappointed? Maybe, probably

But I wouldn’t have shamed thee

You should’ve come to me

If my door was closed, you should’ve knocked

We could’ve talked

Maybe even taken a walk

Several times around the block

Nothing you said would’ve caused me shock

You should’ve come to me

I understand love and pain

I understand image issues, weight loss and gain

I understand mistakes, feeling ashamed

I understand feeling tied down and constrained

I understand temptation and the challenge to abstain

You should’ve come to me

I was once your age

I’ve walked down that path, performed on that stage

I remember feeling like I was locked in a cage

I recall the burst of emotions; love and rage

Life has taught me many lessons, I could’ve given you a page

You should’ve come to me

But now we have this unspoken conversation

The lack of vent resulted in built up frustrations

Now we’ve drifted apart to separate locations

Our hearts torn, in need of renovation

And though I’m moving forward without any hesitation

I leave you with this open invitation

You can still come to me

The Writer Behind the Pen

For many years, writing has been a passion, but it wasn’t until a year ago that I began to share it with the world. My plan was to first introduce the writing, and then myself. So, a year later I’m doing just that. My name is Lisa and I am the writer behind the pen.photo1

The page has been more of a therapy than anything else. Writing is my outlet not because I don’t have a voice, but because the thoughts and feelings flow better this way.

Most of the writing comes from experiences, both personal and shared, issues or topics very dear to my heart, and current events.photo3

My main goal is not to use this platform for gain recognition or to vent frustrations, but to write something that will hopefully impact someone’s life. If something in a poem, image or reflection brightens someone’s day, brings a smile, consoles, or inspires, then I’ve attained said goal.

My faith and beliefs are very important to me, as they have helped form me, carried me through some of the darkest moments in life and are part of my daily living. Now laughter…well that has been like a soothing balm to my heart and soul.

One of the best lessons my mother taught me was to always aspire to be great, but to be grateful for what I have. I try to remind myself of this daily. In moments of frustration or sadness, I look at the blessings that surround me and am reminded that gratitude keeps us humble.

I believe that everyday is a gift, hence “present”, let’s make the most of each one. Tomorrow is never promised so yes, do all the cliches; sing like no one is listening, dance like no one is watching, love like you’ve never been hurt, laugh when you can, apologize when you should, let go of things you can’t change, say “I love you”, forgive, pray everyday and just be……HAPPY!

I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this, as well as those who have liked, commented and shared. Moreover, I’m especially grateful to God who is first in my life, to my family for their love, and to friends who have supported me and have encouraged me to embark on this journey of sharing the pages of my heart. I cannot conclude without extending my sincerest gratitude to two very good friends who made it possible to have the pictures posted here. Thank you Jess from and Yiyi from @talkwithyiyi on Instagram, you guys are the best!!!!!
