As we enter the month of February, we immediately think of VALENTINE’S DAY. With that comes the usual chocolates, gifts, flowers, cards, hearts, and everything else we associate with love. Is that really love? Is that what love is all about? One day out of a month in the year? Love is much more than that. 1 Corinthians 13 gives us a few details of the characteristics of love, but the best description is found in 1 John 4:8; there we find the source of love. We may be many things, but if we don’t have love and if we don’t know it’s source, all the cards, chocolates, gifts, or flowers in the world are worthless. Know love, live love, give love…real love; God.
If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:2 NLT)
