The Comedian

The Comedian

He was a funny man
Always making everyone laugh

Oh he was a funny man
But people only saw half

He hid behind his smile
It was but a cheap mask

He hid behind his smile
But drowned his sorrows in his flask

The life of the party
He was everyone’s friend

The life of the party
He had no one of his own at day’s end

He was a comedian
But inside was a sad soul

He was a comedian
But in place of a heart he had a hole

He filled rooms with laughter
While his life was barren and sad

He filled rooms with laughter
Because it was all he had
