Near or Far, He is Unchanging

The Bible says that God is near to the brokenhearted, but lets focus on when He’s not near. Does distance make Him less of a God? Why would He not be near? When God is not near, it is because we have distanced ourselves from Him, yet this does not limit Him nor does it downgrade His status. Today’s passage reminds us of His sovereignty. In my moments of rebellion, when I turned away from God, I was able to prove that He remains changeless. That very stability is what has brought me back time and time again. He is unchanging and He IS God.

Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? (Jeremiah 23:23 ESV)
