Today’s passage is taken from the story of the prodigal son, a young man who asked his father for his part of the inheritance and left to spend it all, while his brother stayed behind. Upon his return, the father threw a feast but the other brother was confused as to why the father would celebrate the ungrateful son’s return. The answer was simple: love. The father’s love overlooked the prodigal son’s past mistakes and celebrated his return home. God is like that father. The Bible says that heaven rejoices when a sinner repents. I would imagine even more so when it’s someone who left and returned home.
We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found! (Luke 15:32 NLT)

Amen, and we need to be so grateful for having a father that loving.
