These past days as I’ve spent time in The Word, I’ve noticed the same message time and time again; Love one another. A friend and I were recently discussing what the word meant to us, among my replies was this:
Love is an action word and John 1:1 says that the Word was with God and the Word was God. To love is to show, not just verbally express it. Time and time again The Word tells us to love our neighbor, and this is easy if our neighbor is our friend, but what about when it isn’t? Do we only love when it’s easy? If I am to love my neighbor as I love myself, then do I stop loving myself just because I don’t agree with my neighbor? Isn’t it just easier to be Christ-like? Let’s not love only when it’s easy, but also when it’s easier to walk away than do the right thing.
This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. (1 John 3:11 NLT)
