Beneath the Surface

I don’t know about you, but I’ve found myself in a throw-in-the-towel, hang-up-the-boxing-gloves, salvation-is-independent kind of mood. There have been days when I’ve wondered: Is this even worth it?

Have you seen an iceberg? Notice how, when we observe what’s above water as compared to beneath the surface, there’s a lot we don’t immediately see? Well, God works in a similar style. We only get a glimpse of the surface, but inside He is at work. So be encouraged today, don’t give up. God is doing something on a deeper level, and like the seeds that were sewn in good soil, in time we will see them sprout and grow.

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.  (Hebrews 6:10-12 NLT)
