Growing Love

How can my love for you not grow?

If my heart was the soil where you chose to sow.

It is well…

There is an old hymn which says “It is well with my soul”. In the past days, I’ve spent some time reflecting on this phrase. Things don’t always go the way we plan, sometimes they don’t go at all. However, if we believe what the word says in Jeremiah 29:11, then we must also believe that good will come, we must believe in God’s plan.

When past failures invade the current status; it is well with my soul
When people judge; it is well with my soul
When sadness creeps in; it is well with my soul
When it rains: it is well with my soul
When I’m broken; it is well with my soul
When I succeed, when I’m accepted, when joy takes over, when days are bright, when I’m made new; it is well with my soul because God is in control!

I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you. (Job 42:2 NLT)

Let ‘em Go

The road ahead can go one of two ways;

grow stronger ties or break these permanently, if the latter happens just remember this:

You will live not in bliss if you beg them to stay

Stumbling and Stepping Stones

Sometimes we encounter people who seem to have made it their life’s mission to make us fail and fall. It’s frustrating and we question their purpose in our lives. I have often wondered WHY? Yet when I read the story of Joseph, I was able to understand that even those stumbling stones have a reason for being there. Joseph’s brothers wanted to get rid of him and instead sent him on his way to becoming second in command. What if God allowed the stumbling stones in our lives to ultimately become the stepping stones that take us to the next level?

But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. (Genesis 45:5 NLT)

Awesome God

You leave me in awe

The things that you’ve done for me

How you gave your life for me

When you went before me

And left my debt prepaid for me

So I give you my all

It’s not enough but more than enough for you

I will walk in your steps and live for you

As I stand here before you

Sealed with your spirit, postmarked by your love, I’ve no words for you

Yes, you leave me in awe

But some part of me always knew though

That my God is awesome

Beneath the Surface

I don’t know about you, but I’ve found myself in a throw-in-the-towel, hang-up-the-boxing-gloves, salvation-is-independent kind of mood. There have been days when I’ve wondered: Is this even worth it?

Have you seen an iceberg? Notice how, when we observe what’s above water as compared to beneath the surface, there’s a lot we don’t immediately see? Well, God works in a similar style. We only get a glimpse of the surface, but inside He is at work. So be encouraged today, don’t give up. God is doing something on a deeper level, and like the seeds that were sewn in good soil, in time we will see them sprout and grow.

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.  (Hebrews 6:10-12 NLT)

Life is an Adventure

Life is too short and this world is too big to be stagnant. It’s one thing to be alive and another to live. I choose the latter. The good news is that it’s never to late to choose to live, all you need is to be alive and make the most of each day.

“Oh! Teach us to live well! Teach us to live wisely and well!” Psalm 90:12 (MSG)
