The Pretty Box

It was a bookcase, shoe holder
something to put in an empty space.
It had a cover, drawers,
and numerous uses to discover.
It was a box
nothing more,
used for packing, holding, stacking
nothing unorthodox,
but it was a pretty box.

I do this thing with boxes where, rather than throw them, out I repurpose them. Usually, these are wrapped with contact paper and used as bedside bookcases, shoe organizers, and most recently, a 2 drawer tabletop “thingy”. My mom often gets upset and tells me to just throw them out, but why would I? They are pretty boxes, too good to throw out and apart from that, they are very useful. I believe God sees us in a similar way. While man may cast us out because they can only see who we are, God sees what we can become. He sees that we are too good to throw out, and wraps us in His love giving us a new purpose in life.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
