I left because things didn’t go right I left to be alone in a place the color of my heart

Dark and desolate, or so that’s the picture I paint

Because life has only handed me one color

So I left

I left because I can’t bear the pain

I left to be in a place where I could bare my soul

And cry out to its giver

Because this is too much, it just can’t be right

So I left

I left because this is tearing me apart

I left to be somewhere where tears are invisible

But flow all the same

Because I’ve run out of words

So I left

I left because I can hear you breathe, and I’m reminded you’re still here

I left to be in a quiet place where I could listen to my own heart beat

and remind myself that it’s still there and it still works

To remember that it’s not broken

So I left
