The word”conviction” has two definitions: the first is a formal declaration that someone is guilty of a criminal offense, and the second is a firmly held belief or opinion. In this topsy-turvy world, we sometimes feel like our belief in the gospel makes us guilty of wrongdoing. This could result in feeling ostracized, but let Paul’s words be encouraging, in that we will be bold and defend our beliefs which we firmly hold on to. A bold world needs an even bolder gospel.
For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. (Philippians 1:20 NLT)
