Battlefield

Some of the toughest battles are not the ones we fight physically with others, but the ones we fight internally with ourselves. The fact that they are not easily overcome doesn’t make them impossible to defeat. We have been given the necessary tools (Ephesians 6:14-17), so hang in there and remember what the Bible says: “…Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7b NLT).

Battlefield

Battlefield in my mind
Careful not to step on mines
An explosion would wound my heart
But cause my soul to flatline

Stripped of my strength I’m feeling weak
Fighting a war for years, months, weeks
An outbreak of war worse than any disease
Devastation is painful all I can do is weep

Casualties of war are too much to bear
War backwards is raw; battle left me bare
But I can’t give in, too much at stake
A loss equals an eternity of pain and despair

Helmet, belt, breastplate, shield, and sword, like a knight
Salvation, truth, righteousness, faith, and Word of God to end this night
So I press on and fight, the enemy is my flesh
Tirelessly battling until dawns first light

Battlefield in my mind
Careful not to step on mines
An explosion would wound my heart
But cause my soul to flatline
