There’s an anecdote that speaks of a man who went mountain climbing one day and slipped but was saved by his cord. His efforts to get himself back up were unsuccessful as it was dark and foggy. Cold, tired and desperate, He asked God for help. God replied “Do you trust me?” the man answered “Yes I do” and God said “Cut the cord”, but he didn’t. The very next day he was found dead only a few meters from the ground. He died from exposure, but could’ve saved himself had he cut the cord. I’ve been that man many times in my life, but as I’ve grown older (and hopefully wiser) I’ve learned to trust God, despite my fear of the unknown. Sometimes we just have to “let go and let God”.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 NLT)
