Take it All

Sometimes it’s easy to forget the things that really matter. We become overwhelmed with fitting into a standard set by society; status, looks, titles, material possessions and so forth. Truth is, none of that matters if we aren’t fulfilling our ONE job which is outlined in Mathew 28:19. Like the good book says: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? I could lose it all but never Jesus, my salvation is so much more valuable.

I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done.  (Philippians 3:7 NLT)

Lead the Way

We often see movies or read books with stories of the medieval times where kings led their armies into war. This was done as a sign of bravery. A courageous king was considered a man of respect and honor. I think these are well worth it for one who doesn’t just sit on a throne and command but instead fights with His people for the kingdom. Our King is no different. God doesn’t just sit on His throne to watch us struggle, He leads the way to victory. Yes, sometimes this may seemingly be a lonely path, but rest assured that God is leading the way and has no intentions of leaving.

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. (Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT)

The Good Wine

In John 2 we find the passage where Jesus turned the water into wine. The MC’s (master of ceremonies) words got me thinking about life. It was customary to serve the best wine first. In this case, the water-turned-wine by Jesus, which was served last, was the best. Sometimes the first part of our day, week, month, year or life is not as good as it could be, but things change when Jesus steps in. Like the wedding in the passage, however, He is waiting for an invite into our heart. With Him by our side, we know that the best is yet to come.

A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!
(John 2:10 NLT)

Light of His Love

For me, it wasn’t about eloquence or being convinced that this was the correct path, it was about love. To know Him is to know Love.

Made for Eternity

In a recent Bible study with the youth of my church, we were discussing Romans 12:2 where Paul writes not to “conform to this world”. I explained to them that our lives here are simply a pit stop on the way to eternity. It is what we do here though, that affects our eternity. While we can’t physically see it yet, we have faith that God is preparing something far better than anything this world has to offer. We simply have to believe and follow Him. After all, we’re created for eternity and that’s where He’s leading us to.

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT)
